Podcasts and Blogs

We've been working on the plan for this trip for a long time but we became focused on it about 18 months ago. Throughout 2018 (the last 12 months), I've spent a lot of time listening to podcasts. One of my favorites is An Epic Education. In each episode, the host interviews a fellow traveler. In one of my favorite moments, Jason says, "This episode is brought to you by 'curiosity.'" I enjoy the way he talks about traveling with families. I also really appreciate the opportunity I've had to learn about gear from his guests' recommendations and endorsements.

There's an endless network of blogs and podcasts that I've discovered by listening to An Epic Education, each guest (and their social media presence) leading me down hallways to additional inspiration. Others I have bookmarked are Family Adventure Podcast and The World Wanderers.

Then there are podcasts that are not themselves dedicated to world travel or travel with families but have individual episodes with this focus. I feel extremely lucky to have stumbled onto the work of Tsh Oxenreider, whose podcast, Simple, included a four-part series in the summer of 2016 on Travel with Kids. What was so brilliant and valuable to me was that each of the four episodes was thematic/topical and the last touched on the classic theme, "shit happens."
